DTF vs Embroidery vs Screen Printing (Indianapolis)

Four live stations, four jobs. How to choose the right one for an Indianapolis crowd.

DTF, embroidery, screen printing and the hat bar all run on site at Indianapolis events. None of them is the best in general. Each one is best at something specific, and the right pick depends on your art, your crowd and how long the line gets.

Live screen printing

A printer pulls ink through a screen by hand while the guest watches. It's the fastest way to print one bold design, one to three colors, on a lot of shirts, which is why it suits a race-week hospitality crowd or a busy convention aisle. See live screen printing.

Live DTF printing

Full-color transfers pressed onto the garment, with no screens and no color limit. It handles gradients, photos and a name on every piece, and a Gen Con crowd, which loves personalization, tends to want exactly that. See live DTF printing.

Live embroidery

A commercial machine stitches a logo or monogram while the guest waits. Slower than a press, but it reads as a gift, so it fits a client suite at the Speedway or a leadership dinner downtown. See live embroidery.

Live hat bar

Guests pick a cap and a patch, and we press it on. It's hands-on, photographs well and ships easily with the rest of our gear. See the hat bar.

Rule of thumb: volume → screen printing; full color or small runs → DTF; premium gift → embroidery or hat bar. Most Indianapolis events run one fast station plus one upgrade.

Still deciding? Read DTF or screen printing or send your event details and we'll recommend a mix.

Indianapolis planning

Every method fits the same footprint

Each station takes about 10×10 ft and two 120V circuits, so choosing a method doesn't change your booth order at the Indiana Convention Center. What changes is the pace. A screen press runs up to 60 shirts an hour, a DTF heat press about the same, up to 60 pieces, and a hat bar 30 to 45 hats. Everything ships from Fullerton together.
